MONTEPULCIANO
Montepulciano is a beautiful medieval hillside town, located between the Val d’Orcia and the Val di Chiana. At the centre is the Piazza Grande, one of the most magnificent squares in Tuscany and home to the outstanding 14th-century Palazzo Comunale. Surrounding Montepulciano is a landscape dominated by vineyards: the source of the excellent ‘Nobile di Montepulciano’ red wine, famous the world over.
TOUR
A walk through the town centre is a feast for the eyes, with its magnificent medieval and Renaissance architecture and ancient wine cellars. We will start in the Piazza Grande, where you will learn about Montepulciano’s fascinating past and its centuries-old tradition of producing the vino Nobile.
We will also visit two ancient cellars, still used for the production and sale of wine. Amongst the spectacular brick vaults you will hear about the history of the winemaker and learn to distinguish the best wines.
[And of course you will have the opportunity to sample them!]
