THE SEAMSTRESSES OF MONTALCINO

In Montalcino, in Piazza del popolo, to the right of the very high tower of the town hall, there is a shop which is rather exclusive: it is a tailor’s shop which however has the typical characteristics of the bazaar, since it also collects the artifacts of many local artisans. It is the ‘Sartoria Principe’

The shop is run by two sisters, both tailors by vocation and family history: Renata and Gabriella Principe.

IL TOUR

They come from Tuscania, in northern Lazio, but have found here in Montalcino the quality of a daily life that allows them to promote their activity with care and passion. They mainly work with fabrics of the ancient textile factory Busatti (www.busatti.com) which produces handcrafted fabrics from natural linen/flax and cotton since 1842.

In addition to beautiful tablecloths and household items Renata e Gabriella also make jackets, dresses and sweaters: all unique pieces of their own creation. The tour includes a walk in the historic center of Montalcino, and a visit to the shop and to the atelier of the sorelle Principe. We’ll be listening to their stories: a special way to get to know this small Tuscan town, not only dedicated to its famous Brunello!
